On 28th January, the Mayor of Bath Cllr Will Sandry joined us for our AGM to elect band officers and committee and review the previous year.
Reports were made by the band officers and Martin Perry, Musical Director. The band had had a successful year, including a 4th place at the West of England Championships and 2nd place at the Wessex Winter Contest with 1st place in the March category. It was hoped that the band could build on this success and achieve a good result in the 2016 West of England Championships in March. Thanks were given to Gareth Pritchard and Dave Hayward, our professional conductors for added support in band training. The band had enjoyed some excellent concerts throughout the year including The Mayor’s Inauguration, Love Parks Week concert and Chippenham Male Voice Choir’s Anniversary Concert. A strong finish to the year included Christmas Concerts with Mendip Male Voice Choir and Chippenham Male Voice Choir.

The Stan White Cup was awarded to Laurent Henry of the Training Band for his continual effort and commitment, starting as a complete beginner.
The Mayor of Bath expressed thanks to the Band for its performance at his inauguration. He particularly enjoyed our rendition of Pharrell Williams’ Happy. The Mayor also remarked how much he enjoyed the Love Parks/Bath in Bloom Concert in the summer and the Christmas Concert with Mendip Male Voice Choir. He had noticed how much physical as well as mental effort goes into playing brass instruments, something he had not realised before. He was very proud to be patron of the band and to be fortunate to attend band performances and events.
The AGM was followed by a band social and raffle.
